Aroma: No surprise here, it smells like apples. I wouldn't say that it smells like a cider, rather it's more like a fresh apple juice. Be warned before you try this at home: those little bubbles will jump up your nose and make you go into a sneezing fit, if they get the chance.
Taste: The taste is crisp and dry, with a good balance of sweetness. It's a simple drink that tastes of fresh apples with champagne-like carbonation. There's really not too much else to say.
Price: Varies, usually about $2-3 per 24 oz bottle. Available at stores nationwide and online.
Ingredients: Pasteurized 100% Pure Carbonated Apple Juice From U.S. Grown Fresh Apples, Vitamin C, No Water or Alcohol, No Concentrates, No Sweeteners or Preservatives.
Other Comments: I didn't think this drink was very sweet at all, but to my surprise it has quite the sugar content - 31 grams per 8 oz serving, or 46 grams for 12 oz. (more than a can of regular soda!) I think it is made to be more of a "sipping" beverage, but nevertheless that's something to watch.
Overall: This cider has a nice, simple flavor, and Martinelli's gets extra points for their refusal to use concentrates, preservatives, etc. etc. Just keep an eye on how much is going into your glass - it is carbonated, and it does have a whole lot of sugar.
Rating: 4.0/5 stars.
